Introduction and Objectives
Our objectives in presenting this Delegation of Tasks and Supervision Learning module are that you:
- recognize which tasks may, and which tasks may not, be delegated to legal assistants.
- appreciate what supervision responsibilities you have over your non-lawyer staff.
Navigating this Module
This module features these components:
Written Material: It is often desirable and efficient to delegate tasks to your staff. This module discusses what tasks you may not delegate to legal assistants and your obligations to supervise your non-lawyer staff.
Although we aim to present a comprehensive module, this module is not exhaustive. It is not a substitute for exercising professional judgment, and it does not constitute legal advice.
Test: The test for this module features a fact pattern followed by two parts, a question and a justification. You must answer both parts correctly in order to complete the test. If you answer one or both parts incorrectly, you will be given an opportunity to take the test again. Test questions are based on the Written Material only and not on the Additional Resources or footnotes to the Written Material.
Additional Resources: Additional valuable resources are available, some of which are referred to in the Additional Resources section of this module. You are not tested on the Additional Resources but encouraged to view any that are relevant to your legal practice or if you experience difficulty comprehending the Written Material.
