Some tasks that a paralegal may perform include:
- researching legal questions;
- where they have the necessary skill and experience, give legal advice or represent clients before a court or tribunal, as permitted by the court or tribunal, (BC Code, Chapter 6, rule 6.1-3.3);
- preparing memoranda;
- attending to all matters of routine administration;
- conducting negotiations of claims and communicating directly to the client, provided that the lawyer reviews proposed terms before the paralegal accepts a settlement.
